If you run "netconfig" from the hash prompt then select "SCO TCP/IP" (This would be under the entry corrosponding to your network card)
From the menu options at the top go to "protocol" and then "Modify Protocol configuration"
You can change the IP and subnet mask in here...
Andy
++
- edit /etc/tcp
search for the ifconfig line for your nic card.
change ip and netmask on that line.
- edit /etc/hosts
change ip from old to new
- edit /etc/default/tcp
change netmask and broadcast
Thank you Andy and Stan!
If doing things manually, what would broadcast need to change to? It's currently 1.255.255.255?
Would "pref" stay the same?
In hosts, would ppp-computername stay the same?
Just to check:
If I back up /etc/hosts, etc/tcp and etc/default/tcp by renaming them, make my changes, try them out, and then rename the backups to their orginals, all will be as before.
Is that right? I.e. no behind-the-scenes changes that I can't undo will have been made?
Tony.
not that i know of..... you will need to restart tcp or system after changing the files.
How are your client machines resolving your server?
If DNS then it needs to be updated...
if HOSTS then each client needs to be updated for the new ip address.
