My friend has travel agent where there are
1 Win 2000 Adv server with Sql 2000 Server (192.168.0.1)
6 Win XP Professional (192.168.0.2 - 7)

All these 7 computers are in 192.168.0.x range ip address. Sql server hosts a database for their in-house application.

My friend wants to change the ip address to 172.20.10.x range which will be
SQL Server 172.20.10.1
XP Computers 172.20.10.2 - 7

Will it gives any problems?

not unless you have any applications pointing to the instance by IP

As long as all the apps are using the host name to connect there shouldn't be any problems.
