Changing IP address of a system within a cluster

Hi

I need to change the IP address of an element within an MCD5 cluster but can’t find any documentation explaining how this is done. I have changed the IP details in IP config, network elements and xnet forms then rebooted the system but I then cannot make any calls to/from the element. Am I missing something?

Don't think there is anything specific written on how to do it. If you change the IP address in one member then all the other members would need to be updated with the new information in order for IP trunks and SDS to continue to function. You might have to stop any SDS and sharing, then remove the element from the cluster before changing the IP addresses. That's my guess but maybe someone else has acutally done it.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

i would manually check all other cluster members and make sure the Network element and Xnet details for the changed site are correct.

It's pretty simple, make the change on the node that requires changing, and it will send an SDS update to the rest of the cluster so they can update their own database. You will have to manually update the IP in your IP trunking forms on both the local and remote nodes, however.

Confirming Lundah's response.

The IP as programmed in the XNET trunking form needs to modified on each system

I would then run a test from/to each system using the Rmessage command

Rmessage verify PBX "X" LAN

If this command fails the IP calls will fail. There are few instances where it will succeed and IP calls will still fail.

Thanks for the replies guys, i'm pretty sure that I changed everything you mentioned but will have another attempt in the morning, I forgot to mention that its MCD on ISS, the MSL address was also reconfigured to a new address, once I get this changed and working I have another server plus 4 gateways to do.

If there is MSL servers in the mix you need to make sure the Local Networks are added

Hi guys, all working fine now, thanks for your help. Turns out the address in the IP/xnet wasn't actually changed the first time. Easy when you know how! many thanks once again.
