Hello,

I have to remove a couple of dead links cmmpu and powrprof.dll references in the win.ini and system.ini in order to resolve the problem of nasty error messages popping up when users log in. It works fine, all I have to do is remove them using msconfig or load them up in notepad, however I do not particularly want to go round each individual machine on the network to do this. Does anyone know a way that I could use the login script or some other automated way to remove the entries?

Thanks is advance for you help!

Are these files "locked" by the window system ?
If not, in your login scripts, rename the old files and have a command to just copy the correct files over.

Your login script would just say:
rename c:\windows\win.ini win.old
copy shareddriveletter:\sharename\win.ini c:\windows\win.ini

Or it could execute a batch file that does that....
