I am trying to change the icons of certain items in Mac OS X and dont want to do it using a software...is there a way of changing the icons using other icons...like the windows where there is a list and u can choose the default or other sort of icons for folders.is there such a thing in Mac and also can I change the icons using command keys or other keys.I am told that in Mac OS 8/9 u can change the icons using command options and other keys, can this be done in Mac OS X ?

If you do a command+i you should get the info on the folder or item you have selected. This will show an icon also. Notice you can select that icon.

So if you have an icon to use there, select it, then get the info, then select the icon in the info window. You can command+c to copy it and select the folder or item you wish to change the icon of...then click that icon in the get info window and command+v to paste.

If you have a shortcut in the dock, you will have to do it at the root and recreate your shortcut to get it to appear.

I know that sounds complicated, but it is simple. I am just not the best at explaining it. Sorry if I confused you.

Or you can just give in and download Candy Bar. -----------------------------------------------
