Hello!

IPO500V1; 5.0; VMPro

I want to change a couple of hunt group names (so that when they show up in VisualVoice they're labeled a bit more descriptively).

Can I just change the name without changing the HG number, or does something else link to the HG by name that won't automagically be updated?

Will the Voice Mailbox associated with the hunt group "reset" and lose the greetings/messages?

Thanks!

There is no impact within IP Office itself but for the VM a new name means a new VM Box.
If you have VM Pro you can find in the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Accounts
C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Greetings
C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Names
files with the old name of the group, if it is a file then rename it to the new name or rename the corresponding folder.
Before changing anything stop the VM Pro service and start it again after you have finished renaming the files/folders.

You will also need to remember to update any source numbers refering to the old group name and update any shortcodes using the old group name.
