I just installed an additional DC. The current FSMO roles are up and running on a permanent server, I was just wondering if I should transfer these to the faster server in the Domain. Current role holder is a dual PIII and the new one is a dual Xeon. Would I see a performance increase by transferring these roles to the newer and MUCH faster server or just leave them be?

I say if everything is working fine just leave it as is...are you seeing any performance problems now?

One of the FSMO roles, Infrastructure Master, sometimes doesn't get along well with the GC. Other than that you can leave the roles alone. The KB article listed by mikepam reflects this idea.

Good Luck!

squirre777 - do you use universal groups? If not, you can probably leave infrastructure master a GC.
