Hell all, I really need help. Why can't I use some of the fonts in Corel Draw? For example, Arial, Times New Roman, etc - they are in GRAY color in the font list. When I select these types of font, Corel Draw won't change my font/text style. Some fonts are in BLACK color in the font list, these I can change my font style. I am going crazy here, I need to use these GRAY color fonts. Anyone can answer my question? Tks, WWZHAO

What type of fonts are these? TT, OT, PS? Do you have multiple versions of said fonts installed?

The GRAY color fonts are TT fonts (some fonts are "O") according the the font folder in Windows. These fonts are default fonts given when installing Windows XP. All the GRAY colors fonts are useable in other software such as Word. Except in Corel Draw, I don't understand why. Tks, WWZHAO

are any of the "gray" fonts showing an "O" even though they may say they're TT? v11 doesn't really recognize OT fonts, so this is probably the one case where you'd need to have the OT and TT fonts installed at the same time (or just replace those OT fonts with their old TT equivalent - normally, you do NOT want fonts w/the same name installed at the same time; i.e. don't have a T1 and a TT of the same installed at the same time)

v12 does recognize OT fonts.

the fonts you are trying to use have been probably installed to another folder than \fonts. if you remove that folder or becomes unavailable corel shows you that the font is installed as a shortcut not as a file.
you can try to remove those fonts from control panel... etc. and install them by checking the box "Copy fonts to font folder" or something like that.

javabearSTL - most of the GRAY color fonts are OT fonts. But where do I get the TT fonts for them? Since these fonts are installed automatically when installing Windows XP. Also, does that mean I have to get Corel Draw v12 in order to access these OT fonts??

meghi - all the fonts are installed in C/Windows/Fonts. So all should be accessable.

upgrading to v12 would give you access to OpenType fonts. However, you might just want to look on some old MS Office CDs and see if the old TT versions of the fonts are on them and install them, too.

javabearSTL - thanks for your info. I downloaded the trial version 12 of Corel, it works with the GRAY color fonts! You save my day. I am gonna purchase Corel Draw v12. Thanks Again.
