I need one of my administrators to be able to change folder permissions on the server from her Win98 client. At the moment she is unable to access the permissions screen for any folder stored folders or files.

She is currently in the account operators group, as well as my own administration group.

Any help!

What type of permissions is she tring to change? NTFS of File Share?

SteelDragon

NTFS. I am not sure if it is possible. She has the NT server tools installed on her client.

To change NTFS permissions you MUST be on the server or use PC Anywhere or some other remote control utility to access the server control directly. NTFS permissions are not able to be configured remotely. Only Share permissions can be configured from a remote computer, even with server tools.

Hope this Helps,

SteelDragon

Thanks.

I thought this might be the case. I have VNC viewer, so she can use this. Do you know why Microsoft allow the Security tab to be visible on a Win 98 client.

I beleive that the security tab on Win9X PC's is there to allow you to configure file audit and to be able to take ownership. I'll refrence that one and be more specific.

BTW Have you thought of upgrading your Administrator's workstation to Win NT Wks? You can do most of what you want then without the extra remote control software. Just Load NT Wks, and server tools, you'll see what I mean.

Good Luck
