Changing fill color via spread sheet

I am wanting to change the fill color in individual shapes via a spreadsheet. Basically have a work flowchart and when we benchmark the work flow, I wanted to be able to be able to change the color of individual shapes to identify problem areas in the flow via the spreadsheet. Kinda like a dynamic flowchart. I can manually do it, can I do it automatically? Can this be done? How? Thanks Chalk

You can create a custom property called status that indicates the colour of the shape and change the fill colour to use this information.
