If I want to change a field name in a table, is there some way to change all the references back to that table's field name in the rest of the database (forms, reports, queries, etc)?

We are currently tracking license payment dates by one field ([Renewal Date]). However, the payment date / expiration date for each license may differ and we'd like to keep better tracking of both.

We don't want to lose the renewdate data as that already has the expiration date / payment due date (for over 2000 licenses), so the easiest (hopefully) way of handling this is to rename the old field and add a new field to catch the other half.

Thanks in advance.

It would probably be easiest to use a third-party package such as Speed Ferret to make the changes.

A "common sense" work-around solution is to create two new fields, and keep the existing field.

The field can be "hidden" on forms and reports to prevent confusion.

You can use SQL query to copy the RenewalDate to the appropriate field (ExpirationDate / PaymentDueDate) within the table.
