I am reassigning extension numbers at a school to match the room numbers. I had several extensions that would not let me change them. However, I figured out that if I changed all extension number to 500 and 600 and then changed them all to the room number from there it worked on most them. I have four that are being stubborn and not letting me even enter them as an old extension to change or enter it as a new extension. I have even tried a different port on a different card.

If at all possible I want to stay away from starting over with a complete system renumber...Is this possible? and what is causing these four extensions to be locked if you will.

Thanks!

The only reason you cannot renumber it is that number is being used in the system somewhere else. It might not be an extension, it could be a group, a line number, etc. What are the one's that are not allowing you?

TelecomBoy...The extension numbers that I am having an issue with are 208, 209, 210, and 125. My line numbers are 800 and up. Usually the groups are in the 700's. IE: Voicemail is group 770. Is there a way to delete an extension? I looked at the status of it, but I really don't know what I am looking for...

TouchToneTommy...Is there a way to pull the dial plan report without the computer connection?

Instead of going to sys renumber extensions, try sys renumber adjuncts and see if they are set-up as adjuncts/phantom extensions. with the numbers you are having issues with, I bet they are set-up as adjuncts (phantom extensions).

Another idea... depending on whether you're in setup space or 3-digit dial plan. If your adjuncts start with 7300, than you're in setup space. Setup space has some white space numbers from 7499 to 7699. You can renumber anything you're having a problem with to a white space number, thus taking it out of the dialplan...

MerlinMan, How do I find the DIAL PLAN, so I get you this information?

Merlin101, I think I am in 3-digit dial plan. Based solely on the fact that all extensions are 3 digits.

Under Standard WinSpm > Menu > System Program > Exit/Start > More > Print > More > Extension Directory

That will show the Current Number of each Extension, and with the info Available for Adjuncts, you can GLEAN the Original Set Up.
