We have a site we'll call We want to be able to change the site to where all the subsites, and associated links will change as well.

We created a new host header for newsite and created a new DNS alias, which works when we browse to it, but the boss doesn't even want to see in any of the links or in the address bar. Think of it this way, old company becomes new company, and boss doesn't want the URLs to have old company name in them.

Is this possible?

You will have a problem if you hard-coded any URLs or Links or Pictures etc...

SharePoint is designed to use "relative" URLS to get around this problem. If when creating things, you told SharePoint to add to the top link bar and quick launch bar automatically, they should change. If you added those yourself later using relative URLs, they should change. If you added them yourself with full URLs, it is going to be a very manual process.

A relative URL for your reference is one where you leave off the " portion of the URL in all your links. You just enter them as "/sites/yoursite/yourlibrary/view.aspx". SharePoint then automatically appends the beginning portion correctly depending on the zone you are in.

If you are accessing it via your new DNS name, and already put that into your Alternate Address Mappings, and are still having URL issues, you are most likely going to have to change them by hand.
