I'm running SBS 03 and when a Client or Admin change a domain password the Oulook password is deleted on the client computer.

I'm not running exchange and the domain and email passwords are different and not related. Every password change cycle for me is a nightmare.

Any ideas on a group policy change that will prevent the deletion of the email account passwords?

Thanks

Why are you not using Exchange? You own it already.

Sounds like you have it installed and hence have the normal integration. You will need to modify user profiles to not list the Exchange server.

I hope you find this post helpful.

So you are saying if Exchange is listed in the client email accounts list this deletion will happen?

I don't use exchange because we operate our web/mail servers at a secure co-location facility off site from our office. Our office location does not have the a generator or redundant internet connectivity that we need for our operations.

So you are saying if Exchange is listed in the client email accounts list this deletion will happen?

Yes, well sort of. The Exchange password is the SAME as the network login password. Therefore changing it changes the Exchange password. The Exchange mailbox is an attribute of the user ID. You might be thinking of an Exchange 5.5 environment where the mailbox was a seperate entity. Since Exchange 2000 the mailbox is not linked to the user ID, it is part of it.

I hope you find this post helpful.
