Changing DLT drive personalities

Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the "Personality" of a DLT/SDLT tape drive? For example I currently have a Compaq branded DLT drive & want to change it back to a Quantum DLT drive. Just flashing the firmware doesnt work (tried it).

Any advice is most appreciated.

Hi Rols, not is possible change vendor information in EEPROM chips in te DLT board, this information reside in a protected area into this chips and not is possible acces for change, any information in the board except the firmware ver. is possible change in a normal operation

You can change the personality with dltprops, i think is only for solaris. With this tool you can, if you know, change the paramters to new personality. After change the personality try flash the firmware again.
