Changing Directory Message

Is it possible to change the message that comes on when you select *2 in the Merlin Messaging menu (Please enter the first 4 digits of the person's name followed by the pound key)?

So, how do the users know if we set it up by first name or last name?

You have to put that in the main greeting.( "to use the dial by first name directory please dial *2") Avaya is a little slow in giving the customer what they want.

Is it possible to program first and last name in there? What about having 2 different directories, 1 for first, 1 for second.

The directory is set by the name you enter for the extension,and an extension can have only one name assigned to it. You could always us an announcement and list everyones extension and have them dial *8 and the extension #.

What about creating a transfer only extension and having that extension transfer to the real extension.
