Changing Default Gateway on BCM200 1

BCM200 3.6 fully patched.
Although the default gateway appears under Permanent WAN settings under Net Link Manager, the status of Net Link Manager is Down.
When we try to enable this setting, the screen in Unified Manager goes to Saving Data and then stays there. It appears to lock the PC up.

Is there an easier way to set this to Enabled remotely or do we have to send a techie to site.

All help appreciated

If the net link manager service isn't running, see if there are other services that aren't running. That service relies on routing and remote access, which relies on workstation, etc.

I've seen this happen when the BCM thinks there is another device on the LAN with the same IP or name.

Thanks Biv,

Our remote access into the system is not working either.
What happened was that the customer is now adding IP handsets. The 2050 softphones worked ok, but the 2004 phones failed to come back up if they had a power outage. Last time I was on site, their IT people noticed that the subnet mask on Lan1 was incorrect.
When this was changed, the system rebooted, and all the i2004 handsets sync'd straight away. The i2050 cannot connect and remote access now does not work.
We can remote desktop into the customer network to access the BCM.
If we launch BCM Monitor, on the first tab, we can see the IP address for Lan1, but in the next hop router it shows N/A.
We have tried to start the Net Link manager via services, but this seems to lock the Java application.
What other services should I ensure are running which are not?

Cheers

Biv,

I have checked in the services and troubleshooting section under Maintenance and found the following Automatic services 'stopped'

DialMgr
LMHosts
Lanmanager Wors
kstation
Messenger
Net Link Manager
QOS_flt_init
Router

I can now see where the problem lies, but is there an easy way to get these started again.
I have tried the Modify Service, then clicked on Start, but it does not seem to do anything apart from lock up my Java.

Thanks

I ran into something similar a while back. The customer used the IPSEC feature on the BCM. Whenever the system was rebooted with the LAN 2 (public) interface connected to their internet router, the system would show multiple services down, and looking through the event logs I'd see messages like "BCMNAME is not a valid workstation name". If I disconnected the LAN 2 port, rebooted, then connected the LAN 2 port after the system was online, things worked fine. System was on release 3.6 and was fully patched. Made absolutely no sense to me, as I got the same message regardless of what the IP address or system name was.

Check the application and/or system logs and see what errors you get. If you telnet to the system, or connect via serial cable, select option 5 at the main menu and dig through the logs. I bet you'll see something along the lines of 'service failed to start because dependency blah blah blah' failed to start.

Provided the BCM isn't a member of a domain, the subnet mask is correct, the IP doesn't conflict with anything else on the network, and the name of the BCM is unique, you may want to try rebooting the BCM with the LAN 1 cable disconnected and see what happens. That's about all I can think of. Sorry for being long winded.

Biv,

Just to update you. We got the customer to disconnect their network from the BCM. Powered the BCM down, then back on. All the services came up ok. Reconnected the network cable, and all the IP phones came back on line.
We will monitor this to see if the issue re-occurs, if so, we will look at a conflict on their network.

Give you a star for that..cheers
