All,

Probably a simple question .. How do I permanently change the default gateway in my routing table (Solaris 2.5.1, soon to be 2.6)? Everytime I reboot my server I have to issue the route add default n.n.n.n 2 before developers can see the machine. This happened after our tech support changed a pile of network IP addresses. I know I could change the IP of the server to be on the new subnet, but would like to know how to add the new route permanently, as on occassions I need to add routes for other networks.

Thanks in advance.

Create the file "/etc/defaultrouter" and enter just the IP address of your default gateway. Reboot the system and your new default route will be in place.
