My ISP which is Telus is blocking port 21, which i need for FTP. now port 21 is the default port for FTP. was wondering howq i can change that defaukt port number to another port. I have been to some links with instructions but they givecommands but fail tospecify how to run them. Can someone help. this is the link i ahve been to.

[ol][li] configure your FTP server to operate on a different port (check your manual for instructions)[/li]
[li] advise your users to set their FTP client to operate on a different port (advise them to check the manual for their FTP client)[/li]
[li] if you're behind a router, configure your router to forward the relevant port(s). (Your router's manual should give you instructions.)[/li][/ol]

The link you gave is instructions for configuring an FTP Server on an AS/400. I somehow doubt you're running an AS/400, therefore you should ignore the link.

Depending on what type of router you are using on your network, you may be able to set up a static NAT that points some port, like 31, on the external IP to port 21 on your internal machine. Then you don't have to change the configuration of your host at all, just the clients that are connecting to your server.
