changing default editor

Now that I've started working with CVS, I'd like to be able to change the default editor from VI to JOE or PICO (for my account only...) Does anyone know how to do this?

edit your .bashrc or so (depends on shell you are using) and change the variable $EDITOR
add sth like
export EDITOR=/usr/bin/joe
or so
