Hi, ive setup a domain controller and would like to now change its name without having any major knock on affects for other machines.
Its running as a single DC... is this possible cheers :)

Only Windows Server 2003 Domain Controllers can be renamed and you must be a member of the Domain Admins group.

You just rename it the same way you rename a computer in XP/2003.

Whether you will have any issues is another story. I have heard it going just fine and I have heard horror stories.

cheers mate.. i have done this and it seems ok in that area, but my member machines and the dns area on the machine itself, are showing the older name.. appreciate reply :)

It could also depend on your replication scheduling if you have multiple sites. You can force a replication between sites be using the replmon util found in the support tools.
