I'm trying to change the data type from text to memo but the data base is linked and won't allow me to do so. How can i get this changed?

Thank you

You may try to change the backend table and then refresh the link.

Hope This Helps, PH.

I will give the backend table a try if you can tell me what that is. I am new to Access but appreciate your assistance. As for refreshing the link, I am assuming you do that with the Linked Table Manager am I correct?

The linked table is the back end table. You can't mess with the linked table from the place you're linking it to. What PHV means is go to the database system that the table is in and try to change it there. So, if you're linking in a SQL Server table, open SQL Server and change the table from text to memo there. Then, open Access and relink the table. Yes, you use the Linked Table Manager. :)

Next question, how do I go to the database system?

That depends on the system. For example, are the linked tables SQL Server? Oracle? Access? Paradox even?
