How do I change the reception's phone (control) set to ring only once if she is already on a call? Right now, the 2nd call will continuously ring while she is already on a call and this can be distracting.

She can just use DND if she must. That will stop the ringing. Then she can take it off DND as many times as she wants even through a conversation. Sometimes it helps to turn DND off so you can say "I have another call to take".

Using DND is not really an option because she is managing a fairly busy switchboard. With our old phone system, if she was already on a line, it would ring once and the line would flash after the first ring.

Is there a setting for something like this?

Jean,
An important part of your problem statement should be 'what happens to that second call the reception person gets while on line with the first call'. In other words is reception supposed to answer it or do they let it just ring ..does it go to voice mail etc.
Let us know.

Turn DND on busy to Yes in Capabilites. The secondary call into that phone will not ring at all. It is still there and still flashes it just won't ring.

The reception is suppose to answer all incoming calls and route them but at times she doesn't get to a 2nd call until after several rings if she's already on a call.

She would like to set it so that if she's on a call, the 2nd incoming call rings once, then flashes to remind her there's another incoming call (but not ring) until she can get to it.

We're using the Norstar system. I don't know which model phone she has but we're using the T7316 - her's is the control set and has more buttons - I think it's the T24KIM.

Let me know if I've left out anymore info.

Thanks!

The other thing to do to make it less obtrusive is to lower the ring volume F*80 then hit the volume bar down (It has eight positions). Then all calls would ring at that lower volume on that set.
