I would like to know if there is a way to change the control (.net) file programatically (without going into the DBE Configuration in the control panel) and if possible, without restarting the application?

I think the answer is 'NO' programmatically, since the Net File is a BDE issue. However, you can include a command-line option on startup that points to a different idapi file (which can contain a different Net File location setting).

jpbrault,

Actually, I think Langley meant to say, the answer is "Well, yes, it's possible, but Paradox hasn't surfaced the BDE calls that support that behavior so it's not easy.

However, his suggestion about using the -O command line option to use a separate BDE.CFG pointing to the proper NET file is spot on. (Or rather, that's the process the original Paradox development intended us to use.)

For more information on Paradox's command-line options, please see for summary and detailed descriptions. While I based it on the Help file, I also extended with a few notes from my experience.

Hope this helps...
