We are currently using the mitel 3300 v5 and MCD v5. There are a few users who are having a lot of Voice quality problems and after checking all other areas that could be causing the problem, weve narrowed it down to the Codec. is there a way to change the codec on a mitel 5330 phone or does it have to be a system wide change?

Any help would be appreciated!

you can change the zone for an extension which wuld result in the calls to from it to other zones being compressed.

Other than that I dont think you can specify codecs per extension

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Filtering codecs is a system wide change.
You'll find that a 5330/40/60 to 5330/40/60 will use G722 (Wideband) Some people think that this sounds tinny and can't handle it.
I would disable G722 to see if quality "improves" <- is more comfortable for users.

I think you mean to say that the issue is with the bandwidth or setup of your network and you need to try compression as a means to overcome that problem. Think as Billz66 says you can setup compression zones in the system and assign the phones needing compression into the zones. The phones will compression on their own IP to IP but if you need to compress calls to the 3300 to access trunks then you need compression licenses and DSP resources in the 3300 itself.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
