I have 2 hard drives in my pc. My main drive is a Maxtor 40 gig 5600 rpm drive and my second drive is a Hitachi 80 gig 7200 drive. Recently I decided to use the faster Hitachi as my main drive to get the performance boost. I used a Maxtor utility to copy the contents of my Maxtor Drive over to my Hitachi drive. I then unplugged the Maxtor and tried to boot from the Hitachi. Everything seemed ok at first but it just stopped at the Windows XP screen. Anyone have any ideas? Could it be that even though I copied the entire contents of the drive over it still didn't make the drive bootable?

Did the program copy the disk image or the files? Try Norton's Ghost program.

Thanks for the tips but I got it working. I was using the wrong feature of the maxtor utility. Last night I started from scratch and its working great now.
