We have a BCM50 with Norstar VM interface. This system is currently set to answer after four rings 24/7. We have one primary greeting followed by secondary greetings that are active at different times, i.e. open and closed hours. As our hours are unusual, we can always answer within four rings if in the building. We have also taken advantage of contact features through VM that have saved a lot of phone tag and critical time.

We love what this system has done for us, but do not know how to change the primary and secondary greetings. We do have the ability to make changes to the system through F983 with appropriate username and password, but are confused as to where these greetings are within the menus. Any help will be appreciated.

1. Log in with your Feature 983
2. MBOX AA OTHR & Press AA
3. GRTG TBLE LINES & Press TBLE
4. Enter the Table # that you are using(most likely 1 ).
5. The Primary & Alternate greetings are there to be re-recorded.

Your best bet is to put the BCM 50 on your network or get a laptop & program it thru the GUI interface. The menus are far easier to follow if you are not used to programming from a set & feature 983.

Thanks - I thought I would need special software to program through a laptop - is what I need already in the BCM50 - just plug in a network cable and go??

Just plug a sraight thru cable into the first lan port on the left hand side of BCM 50. Open up an Internet Explorer session to 10.10.11.1 which is the address of this OAM Port. Download the program Element Manager from the Admin
Applications section & you should be good to go.
If you only want to get into Voice Mail I think you can launch that somewhere in that applications section.

Thanks - if I remember correctly I will need a programmable phone set present also - for recording purposes - does this connect to the BCM or the laptop?

BCM, the GUI will ask for the DN # and the Call Pilot will call it.

You could also import a file if you have the greeting recorded in a wav file.
