I created a table and want any text I type into one particular cell to be bolded and I want the font to be larger that other cells.

I can bold the text I'm currently typing, but if the cell is originally empty and I tab into it, the insertion point is placed after the turn off bolding command. If I select a group of cells, I can bold them as a group, but I can't turn off the bolding in one of the cells in the group.

I also can't change the font type or size in the cell unless text already exists in the cell. I can't find a way to set a default font for an empty cell.

Can someone tell me how to set individual cells in a table to have default font attributes that differ from other cells in the table, or if it even possible?

In order to accomplish what you want, block the cell or cells that you want to change the attributes on. The complete cell or cells should appear highlighted. Next, click on Format and the Font from the pull-down menu. You should see the Font dialog box. Mark the attributes that you want to be applied to the cell or cells, such as bold, underline, etc. If you want a font change to be applied to the cell, you will want to change the relative size option to be large or very large, etc. By doing this, the size attribute then is applied to the cell or cells. If you were to look in reveal codes after applying the various attributes that you want, you will notice that you will not see any codes that pertain to the attributes that you just applied to the cell/s. This is because they become part of the cell code that you see in reveal codes. If you double click the cell code, it will take you into the Font dialog box where you will see the codes selected. If you do not want to use the relative size option in the Font dialog box to control the font size, but would prefer to use an actual font code in the cell, place your cursor in the cell before all text and choose the font type and size that you want (do not block the text in the cell). Then, press tab to move to the next cell and change the font back to what you want it to be from that point forward. Then as you tab from cell to cell, the cursor will be in the correct position to type in text with the size you want. Whenever you block the cell and put a font code in, you will notice an on and off code for the font in reveal codes. This happens whenever you use the block function because you are telling WordPerfect to turn the font on and then back off again. This will cause your cursor to jump past the on and off codes when you tab into the cell if that is the only set of codes in the cell. If you simply turn the font size on that you want at the beginning of the cell without blocking the cell first and then change it back at the beginning of the next cell, then when you tab it will work the way that you want it to. That way you can control the size of the font the way you want to. In reveal codes you will not see a paired font code (on and off).

If you want to remove some of the attributes that have been applied to a cell, block the whole cell, not just the text in the cell (the whole cell should appear highlighted), then click on Format, Font from the pull-down menu. Remove the check mark from the attributes that you want to remove and click OK. The attributes should then be removed from that cell.

Hope this helps!
