When I click on the quick menu button, (formally known as the "start" button in my old windows environment) and you get all these shortcuts to certain programs. The menu is EXTREMELY cluttered... And I want to take out a lot of that junk!

But I'm kinda scared to take some of it out, as I may want to use something later on.

I thought of an idea, though, so someone tell me if there is a better solution...

find the place where all the junk in the menu is stored, and make a copy of it, and put the copy somewhere in my home directory...

then take out all the junk I don't think I want out of the original menu.

In windows, there is a folder containing all the shortcuts and subfolders that are in the start menu. Is there a location in linux similar to this? If so, where?

TIA
