I have an item that was set up by engineering initially as not being stocked (ie, the stocked option was not checked in Item Master). However, now this is causing a problem with invoicing. Engineering tried to change the stocked option after the fact, but, of course, it is grayed out and cannot be changed. Is there a way to go in afterwards (ie, now) and change an item to stocked? Thank you.

You can use Query Analyzer (for SQL) or Access (for Btrieve or SQL) and change the stocked_fg field on IMITMIDX_SQL to Stocked. You'll also need to change the stocked_fg field on the OEORDLIN_SQL table. You don't want any orders that are in status 6,7,8 or 9 when doing this.

I would also check the IMORDBLD_SQL, SFDTLFIL_SQL and/or PPORDFIL_SQL tables as well depending on whether you are using Shop Floor, POP or whether it's a kit or serial/lot item.

Once you do this, you'll need to do a quantity adjustment through IM transactions to set the quantity to the correct number.

Is or should the item be controlled? Multibinned? Why is a non-stocked item causing invoicing problems? It shouldn't. Maybe you mean inventory problems? The way to change inside macola is to eliminate all customer orders, purchase orders, pop orders, sf orders for this item, change the flag & re-enter. If you use EM or PCC or access to change the flags in the files, be sure to reset allocations & on orders afterward.
