We have hard allocation no bins. inventory is set to billing. We want to change to soft allocation. After posting all orders, is it safe to export and intilize the oeheader and detail file. Change the im setup to soft. Reimport the order header file and detail file? I have done this in my test company cannot find a problem. However, macola infomine suggests re-keying the orders because you would lose any qoutes?? However, if there are only type o orders in these files why would the above not work?? I see no flags that relate to allocation method?

7.5.103f sql 2000

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work. You mention bins but do you use serial/lot numbers. If you did, that would create tha allocation in the IMLSTRX table.

I may be too late, but you will find many problems related to not rekeying orders, including the iminvtrx file. I have been there, done that & have spent many hours fixing files as a result.

Not too late, macolahelp, can u provide any general insight as to what is missing on an import? I also have a third party product that writes oeheader oeline information, and invtrx.. ?

You would run the reset allocations and reset on order functions (checking the box to reset inv trx) to repopulate the IMINVTRX_SQL table with the correct information.

If everything that is confirmed shipped is billed, invoiced and posted, you shouldn't have a problem.
