Hey All
Quick question...I administer a website were our employees can access an intranet from the web...we give them a login account and password...and unfortunately one of the employees has forgotten thir password...we're running a NT 4.0 system...with a sql server...any ideas on where to look to reset their password without killing there login account? Let me know. THANKS!

Are you using NT or SQL authentication? Has the employee forgotten the NT password or the SQL password?

If the employee has forgotten the NT login, it can be reset by an NT administrator using the NT User Manager for Domains.

A SQL System Administrator can reset a SQL authentication password through Enterprise Manager. Just type it in the space provided in the Login properties under Security for the Server.

An SA can also use sp_password to reset a user login password. NULL is used in place of the old password. Only an SA can do this.

Exec sp_password null, newpassword, loginname Terry L. Broadbent - DBA
