The Nortel manuals can be very frustrating for me. I need to change a module from a 8 line to an 8x16. All the info in the book say see admin guide but I can find nothing there?? Do I need to shut down the old unit in EM first? Where? Any guidance appreciated.

The 8x16 will use two DS30 loops/bus channels. If the existing GATM 8 is on bus 5 for example and bus 6 is available, then it should just be a matter of configuring the new module for bus 5, shut down the system, install the new module and power the system back up.

If you don't have two consecutive DS30 loops available, you'll have to rearrange some things to make room.

There is only the base module and the expansion module with the 8 port trunk module. If I understand you correctly, I should only have to shut the system down, replace the module and power back up.

Sounds like a BCM 50. After you install it in resources change the type of card to the 8x16. You will need another amp cable and since you had the GATM8 in before that can stay the same it will add the 16 on the next DS30 bus.
