Changing a file address to a number

I need to change a file address for a picture to a number that is in the file (ie file address:"C:\Solenoid\0002.png" to the number: "2"). Any ideas how this could be done?

Something like this ?
myNumber = Val(Mid(myFile, 1 + InStrRev(myfile, "\")))
