I have a computer that logs into a domain, but if I take the computer off the domain and revert back toa workgroup the user of the computer loses all documents, desktop excetera. the only way i can think of is backing up all details in administrator mode and physically putting it into the original workgroup profile. that is a lot of work because it is on a domain for quite a while. Does anyone have an idea if there is a quicker method

Determine what their user path is. Typically, it's C:\Documents and Settings\username.domain. After you remove the domain, login as computer administrator and give the user rights to that directory and they can get their documents.

I've had some luck with having the user login...then login as the administrator and rename the domain directory to the one that was just created and setting the rights.

Thanks I will try that, replacing the server earlier this year I got away with setting up three clients back to original setups but one client would not log back in only by setting up a new profile . The only way I had access to documents was through the administrator of domain.
