Is there a way to change the connection string in a .rpt file, without using the Crystal Enterprise tool. Our developers have been using sa as a login, in all of their reports. We want to change this, but there are hundreds, if not thousands, of these reports. Is there a way to do a mass change?

Thanks,
Leonard

Hi,
Not without using the Enterprise tools - especially the instance manager ( or schedule manager, maybe, it has been a while) which will let you reset the database connection for an entire folder of reports.

If you are using an ODBC connection to SqlServer you can change the saved username/password combination in that DSN, maybe.

The information is stored in APS infostore so you could write code in say VB for example and modify the information. It takes awhile to familarize yourself with the Object Model, but it is doable if you have the time.

Also, you could consult the BOBJ website.
