Hey,

Has anyone got any idea why I'm able to make changes on my CCM Subscriber??

This is a brand new installation, fully licensed, with one PUB and one SUB. As I was configuring away, I realised I was logged onto the ip address of the SUB, not the PUB and to my surprise, I had been saving changes to it for about an hour. The changes are replicating to the PUB no problem. I've rebooted both boxes and still the same.

The PUB sees the other server as a SUB and if I go into licensing on the SUB, it tells me it can only be licensed through the PUB, so the SUB knows it's the SUB (if you know what I mean!).

This is CUCM6.1.2 on MCS7825 servers, nothing else involved, built from scratch.

Am I in trouble here?? I'm not sure what kind of info you need (if any) so let me know.

Thanks,

Neil

As long as the publisher is on line you can make changes when logged in the sub instead.
However this is not recommended or best practice and it "could" cause db issues or corruption.
So just make it a habit to log in the pub and make all the changes there.

Changes are made direclty to the publisher server database. The changes are then replicated to the subscribers. If the publisher is off line the SQL database automatically locks...

Thanks for the replies guys but I'm a bit stumped. I recently did a CIPT1 course and we had a PUB and SUB on VMWare, both version 6, the same as what I'm running now for real. Anytime I attempted to make a change on the SUB I would get a DB Write or access error (or something to that effect). I put this down to the subscriber database being read-only and changes only being permitted on the PUB.

Is there a configuration parameter or setting that stops changes being made on the sub??

Thanks in advance,

Neil

From what I have been told, because it's setup has a subscriber it only has read only. But if you happen to be on the sub while programming and the pub is active it will write to the pubs database and then replicate to the subscriber.
