We are in the middle of upgrading to exchange 2000. Our current exchange server is our SAV server for the network. All 80 or so clients get there updates from it. (managed)
The only thing left to figure out for the switch over is how to tell the network clients to get the updates from the new server and not the old one without reinstalling on each pc. I'm not for sure were to start. We currently have a w2k server with exchange 5.5 with SAV 8.1 corp. ed and NAV for ech. The same setup on the new exchange 2000 server. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanx!

I just got done doing that for the company I joined:
I made all clients look to our 1 new NAV 8.0 server.

Go to the NAV server you want to be the master (after installing NAV server, etc. on it!), then copy the GRC.DAT file from it. It should be in the \VPHOME share, but if not just do a "find file" in Windows and find where it lives.

Copy this GRC.DAT file to all your client's PC. I made a login script to do this automatically. Otherwise, you'd need to visit each PC or remote-in to each PC to do it.

- If your client has windows 98, drop the GRC.DAT file into C:\Program Files\Symantec_Client_Security\Symantec AntiVirus- If your client has Windows NT 4, drop GRC.DAT into C:\WinNT\Profiles\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition\7.5- If your client has XP or 2000, copy GRC.DAT to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5
Client needs to then either reboot or restart the NAV service on their PC. Afterwards, the GRC.DAT file will vanish & new settings will take place.

p.s. I got this solution from Symantec's web site. You can too.

Thank you! I managed to find it after doing some google searches. You still get a star for it though :)
