Changeing data type on huge table

Hello,

I am trying to change the datatype in a huge table from Text to a Number, however, access keeps tell me that I do not have enough memory on my pc to make this change any suggestions?

How about creating a copy of the table structure and then using multiple queries to copy chunks of the data to the new table. Maybe you could break it down by date, first letter of last name, etc. Once you are done, delete the old table and rename the new one.
