Changed Service Account now POP3 doesn't work

Somehow, the service account that was used for Exchange 5.5 was assigned to deny log on as service in the group policy. I was trying to take a vacation when all of this happened...still looking for the cause, but I think it was the other IT guy. Anyways, I created a new service account with a different name, applied all the same security settings the other service account had in Exchange admin and active directory. But now, all clients that used POP3 offsite can't receive mail, it says
