Help! i am fairly technical and i am really just trying to avoid getting another board/cpu but i have swapped a packard bell system into a new case and the system will now not post at all, no vga, hdd led stays lit, cant try other memory as i have no other rdram, its a socket 428 cpu, any ideas anyone, the system worked fine before the swap and no new components have been added except the case and psu, have tried various vga cards, have removed all hardware except the basics and have tried the original psu, all with no luck!!! i do get a post beep or what appears to sound like a post beep but no activity on the keyboard. have reset the bios by removing the battery and all power for around 20 minutes.

Remove the motherboard from the case and place in on a non-conductive surface, such as cardboard. Hook up power supply, keyboard, monitor and see if it posts. You may have introduced a short, such as an incorrect case standoff, when you mounted the board in the new case.

Hi Freestone, thanks for your response, i have done this many times before and never had this issue, i will check the standoffs and try booting outside the case, ill let you know the outcome on monday
