I just connected up a new monitor to another machine, it flickered a iny bit so I changed the refresh rate to 85 from 60. Got back a black screen and "invalid frequency setting" and it did not revert. Rebooting did not help, Safe Mode just loads the plain VGA driver. How can I get the setting back to 60? Plug the old monitor back in?

Great Forums by the way, I'm new, this is my first post here.

Depends on your operating system...

For XP you have a couple of options. Switch on PC and during the POST screen hit the <F8> key. This will invoke the Windows Advanced Options or Startup menu. Try selecting Enable VGA Mode and see if that allows you to go into Display and change the settings. Or, select Last Known Good Configuration.
