I had a Redhat 7.2 up and running find in graphics mode (using KDe). I changed my monitor to an LCD (lucky me) and now I get "input not found" when I try to boot.

I need to boot into non graphics mode and then install graphics again.

Question 1: How to interrupt the boot process to force a boot to text mode.

Question 2: When I get there how do I reconfigure to account for the new monitor.

Hi,

If its GRUB you have as the boot loader - highlight the normal line on the boot menu but press 'e' twice to edit the associated command line. Just put '3' on the end which indicates to stop at runlevel 3 (text multi-user mode). Press enter to exit edit mode then 'b' to boot that image.

If you have lilo instead - do ctl-X from the graphical boot screen to get the text prompt and type 'linux 3' so it looks like :

boot: linux 3

then press enter.

Either way you should end up with a console login prompt. From there run 'Xconfigurator' to re-do the XFree86 config and (hopefully) select the right monitor.

Hope this helps
