The fastest way - and the best way is 'smitty chvg'!!!!

taken from man chvg:

Code:
-c Same as -C flag. In AIX 5.2 and later only Enhanced Concurrent Capable volume groups will be created.
-C Changes the volume group into an Enhanced Concurrent Capable volume group. Changes the volume group varied on in non-concurrent mode to Enhanced Concurrent Capable. This requires that the volume group be re-imported on all other nodes prior to activation in Enhanced Concurrent mode. Changes the volume group varied on in Concurrent mode to an Enhanced Concurrent mode volume group. Only use the -C flag with the HACMP(TM) ES. It has no effect on volume groups and systems not using the HACMP ES product.

This should ok! You need to stop HACMP while doing this!

Khalid

I can't stop HACMP as to it is production.
Is there any ramification with having VG Mode: Non-Concurrent until HA being restarted?

thx much

You still can leave it non-concurrent until you find gap for downtime.

I never tried this to be honest but that's what the man pages says

Code:
This requires that the volume group be re-imported on all other nodes prior to activation in Enhanced Concurrent mode.

I have an HACMP test environment which is running in non-concurrent mode. I will try changing it to enhanced concurrent and will let you know how it goes! unfortunatly now its weekend so i will try it once i go back to work.

Khalid

Why are you changing the volume group ?

You need to take additional care with enhanced concurrent volume groups. Always use C-SPOC to manipulate them, never directly on the command line.
