Change usernames with a script

Hello,

I am having an issue with my active directory usernames. I am trying to create a script that will change a range of usernames from the old convention to the new one. I want to pull information from active directory and two fields (last name and first name) to change the names from lets say jdoe to john.doe. Is there a script that can help me out?
