Hello All,
I have been having trouble for years now with Window 2003 server (at home) and my Windows XP SP2 PC (also at home).
Thinking it might be a user account problem, what I was wondering is is there a way for me to ...
1) Create a new user on the network
2) Login as that new user on my PC...
and... 3) retain all my installs/setting from my existing user.
I have tons of applications which have been upgraded/updated/patched which would take me DAYS to reinstall and all the stuff is already on my PC. Is there a way for me to tell the new user where everything is?
Some background, I have posted here many times and have not been able to resolve the issue - mostly because I don't know Windows 2003 that well and Active Directory not at all. Even thought to pay someone to come out and look at stuff, none around my area :-(
I am doing my best to avoid a reinstall/repair of the server because of the time for setting up the server (assuming I could even do it right) but also because of having to basically re-setup my 2 PC which I have networked
Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. FWIW, the system of my problems are...
1) Takes about 4 minutes from when I log in "load account settings" - there ain't that much and the server/pc are only a coupla years old with P4 3.20, 2 gig rams
2) I can't map drive using the User Account I have just logged in with - even tho I admin rights. Basically when I map a drive it prompts for me a Login - using mine it says it already tried that and it failed - however if I use the login from my partners PC, then the mapping works fine
3) Randomly drops the connection. Anywhere from 1 hour to 15 hours the connection to the server just goes. I wrote a little program which checks for a file on the server every 10 seconds and eventually I just a a message back saying it can't fint the file (That is my message though) After that I can't see the network at all, printers etc... tho internet access and other stuff works ok
4) Now I am trying to access SQL Server 2005 which is on my Server from my PC and randomly I'm getting... "Cannot generate SSPI context" errors and the login fails. Tracking the error down on MSFT web site and it say if I am using Windows Authentican that there is something wrong with the user Account.. tho not what
Thanks for any and all advice
