I upgraded a person from a MLX 5 to a 10 and cannot copy the feature buttons over. I am guessing it is because somewhere in the system the ext is set for a MLX 5 so a 10 button program will not copy. Where in the system can I change the type of phone.

Let me reword this. I checked a bit more and it looks like the system knows what type of phone you plug into it.

My Ext 126 MLX-10D
Oth Ext 197 MLX-10D - used to be MLX-5

The buttons on ext 197 are not the same as mine at 126. I tried doing a feature copy but when I put in 197 as the ext to copy to I get the beep and return to what ext to copy to.

What am I doing wrong.

Thanks people.

Are you using CENTRALIZED PROGRAMMING to do this?

IF so, it should work.

Bear in mind, it does not copy every thing, cover buttons for instance.

It goes like this:

Menu > System Program > Exit -or- Start > More > Central Program > Copy Ext > Enter Ext to copy from > enter Ext to copy to.

Yes that is where I'm at, but for some reason it is not accepting the copy from 126 to 197. I'm just trying to copy standard buttons, DND, Redial, VM, etc.

I'm getting that beep and returned to the prompt like it didn't work.

Anything I can try?

That is where I am doing it, but I am getting the beep followed by the same prompt which means it didn't take.

Any ideas why that wouldn't work?

If 196 isn't busy, I would do a board renumber.

Of course, this takes the system down.

Once you do the board renumber, try the copy again.

It sounds like it doesn't see the port of something.

This sounds like you are inserting 197 first. You want to copy from 126. You should be putting 126 in the first screen, and then the extension to copy to - 197.

Isn't it easier to just Program the buttons. There are only 7 that you would have to program. Unless you have lots of phones to copy.
