I have a application named "Main Site". I set up a site collection for it using the Site Directory template. I would prefer my top level site to use the Collaboration Portal template.
If I go into Central Administration and create a new site collection for Main Site, my only option appears to be to assign it as a sub-site (...mainsite/sites/...).
If I were to delete the current site collection, would the main site application reset and be able to accept a new top level site - or - am I better off creating a new application and creating the collaboration portal under that one?
(good thing this is a training farm..... ;-) )
