Change the SMTP Banner

Good afternoon.

I was trying to change my smtp banner in exchange 2003. I used MS Article ID : 836564.

When I changed the message on my backup mail server it took the change but now when I try to telnet I get the following:

Connection to host lost, any key to reconnect. I don't want to do this on production if this is my result.

I used the following script
CSCRIPT ADSUTIL.VBS set smtpsvc/1/connectresponse "Protected"
