How affects the change of hour to SAP?, next 30-Oct we have to delay one hour (winter hour), and I want to now if is necessary to stop the applications. We have Solaris 8, Oracle 9i and SAP R/3, APO, CRM , Portals

It should be autonatically handled by Solaris, I don't remember having to change the time in recent years - not on Solaris 2.6 - 8 or 9.

I know that Solaris change automatically of hour but, what happen with the applications like Oracle, SAP ??

Thank's

Oracle9 should also be OK, but I've no idea about SAP

Solaris or any other UNIX does not handle a time like humans do, eg. Sun October 16th 4:15 pm CET, the machine stores time and date in seconds since 1.1.1970 0:00 UT. If you ask a machine eg. with `date` it converts seconds to a human readable format. Applications usually work with the seconds and just tells the user the human readable format in the GUI, thats why you do not need to change the clock on your hosts, it will tell you the time and date according to your TZ Variable. Depending on your locale the time will have a small extension in Summer DST or in German locale a MESZ or MEZ in winter or C locale MEST or MET

Best Regards, Franz
